Center of Joy

This painting is part of the “Joy” series. Hand painted from a non-objective perspective of intuition, shape and colour play. This work can be viewed as a reflection of the joy that comes from surprising and unexpected places, and ultimately joy that comes from appreciating the little things. The dark colours shift from deep indigos to rich warm colours in simple but meaningful shapes, with vibrant colours contrasting their depth. Although the photos are capturing the subtle colour differences – the real beauty of the colour shifts are best seen in person. The beauty of the natural linen is a driving influence in the painting to stay raw and earthy leaving pieces of the linen exposed.
